Global Warming–er..Climate Change Roundup Bonanza

Government Data Show U.S. in Decade-Long Cooling – Forbes

Because the network, known as the U.S. Climate Reference Network (USCRN), is so uniformly and pristinely situated, the temperature data require no adjustments to provide an accurate nationwide temperature record. USCRN began compiling temperature data in January 2005. Now, nearly a decade later, NOAA has finally made the USCRN temperature readings available.

According to the USCRN temperature readings, U.S. temperatures are not rising at all – at least not since the network became operational 10 years ago. Instead, the United States has cooled by approximately 0.4 degrees Celsius, which is more than half of the claimed global warming of the twentieth century.

The U.K. Mail piles on with one of their famously long headlines:

It’s politics, not science, driving climate mania: Why are environmentalists and scientists so reluctant to discuss long-term increases in southern hemisphere sea ice? – UK Mail

It’s the same with sea ice. We hear a great deal about the decline in Arctic sea ice, in line with or even ahead of predictions.  But why are environmentalists and scientists so much less  keen to discuss the long-term increase in the southern hemisphere?  In fact, across the globe, there are about one million square kilometres more sea ice than 35 years ago, which is when satellite measurements began.

But then the Co-Founder of Greenpeace, Dr. Patrick Moore weighs in:

Greenpeace Co-Founder Dr. Patrick Moore: ‘I fear a global cooling’ – Rips Obama for ‘hollow’ climate claims – Climate Depot

Ecologist Dr. Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, warned “I fear a global cooling,” during his keynote address to the Ninth International Conference on Climate Change in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Moore, who left Greenpeace in 1986 because he felt it had become too radical, is the author of “Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist.” (Watch climate conference live here)

Moore noted that a cooling would adversely impact agriculture, and said:  “Let’s hope for a little warming as opposed to a little cooling. I would rather it got a little warmer.” (Watch Moore video here at the Heartland Institute event)

Moore noted that “the U.S. is currently been cooling” and noted that there has been “no global warming for nearly 18 years.” He also mocked the notion that “everything is due to global warming.”

“If it warms two degrees, hopefully more in Canada in the North…maybe it would be a good thing if it did,” Moore explained.

Moore noted that carbon dioxide is a trace essential gas in the atmosphere and is not the control knob of the Earth’s climate.

“CO2 is the most important nutrient for all life on earth,” he noted.

“There are so many [climate] variables that we can’t control and when you do an experiment you have to control all the variables except the one you are studying if you want to get a clean result. There are even variables we do not even understand that we cannot control,” he said.

Who needs “understanding” or “control” when we can whip up our low-information constituents into fighting for rather than against draconian regulation and huge carbon offset programs that allow for billions in graft for politicians?  There’s no money to be made in obvious projects like dumping less shit into our oceans and not overfishing the hell out of them like we’ve been doing.
And hey, if you can bring the entire coal industry to its knees without providing any replacement for that energy (other than rhetoric), so much the better.  Because a broke (and broken) populace that can barely afford to heat their homes in the winter is a populace that will look only to government for their salvation.
