Perhaps they’ve finally gone too far.

Bob Woodward disclosed that the White House threatened him for his recent articles that have been critical of White House policy.

This was not a surprise to me as it has been my understanding that this has been the default policy under the Valerie Jarrett White House since the beginning.  It is a bit surprising that they would threaten someone of Woodward’s stature, however.  I have been told that the mood within the White House since Obama’s re-election has been one of untouchable confidence.  There is zero concern about Benghazi, Fast and Furious or any other scandal or policy issue because almost half of the electorate has drank the kool-aid and because they have cover from 99% of all media outlets.

However, when you threaten reporters (sometimes the LIVES of reporters with less stature than Woodward), you certainly don’t endear yourselves to them.  When Woodward informed the world yesterday about the threat, I wondered if it would give other reporters the courage to come forward with similar tales.

For at least one so far, it did.  Former Clinton aide-turned-reporter Lanny Davis came forward.

Davis told WMAL that his editor, John Solomon, “received a phone call from a senior Obama White House official who didn’t like some of my columns, even though I’m a supporter of Obama. I couldn’t imagine why this call was made.”  Davis says the Obama aide told Solomon, “that if he continued to run my columns, he would lose, or his reporters would lose their White House credentials.”

Hopefully, more reporters come forward.  Of course, this is a very different Administration than any we’ve ever seen.  This is an Administration that will spend it’s last four years in non-stop campaign mode thanks to hundreds of millions of dollars of foreign money funneled into a special PAC.  Every single issue, every single showdown with Republicans will be accompanied by an advertising blitz on the radio, tv and web (The White House has tremendous influence over left wing news sites and blogs).  The campaign to discredit Woodward is already beginning and the same will happen with Davis.

The bottom line in all this is that this behavior is another example of how this administration is different (in the worst way) from anything ever seen in American politics.  As I told a good friend before the last election “He is not a Democrat. This is not a criticism of Democratic values.”  Unfortunately, the party has followed our President’s lead.

What does it tell you when if a reporter doesn’t give flattering coverage to an Administration, said Administration cuts off his/her access?  We have State Run Media in this country now and this Woodward issue is the tiny tip of the iceberg.

I can only hope it’s not all we’ll see.

BOB WOODWARD: Obama Is Showing ‘A Kind Of Madness I Haven’t Seen In A Long Time‘ – Business Insider

“Under the Constitution, the President is commander-in-chief and employs the force. And so we now have the President going out because of this piece of paper and this agreement. ‘I can’t do what I need to do to protect the country,'” Woodward said.

“That’s a kind of madness that I haven’t seen in a long time,” he said.

Woodward’s harsh criticism came after he stirred controversy last weekend by calling out Obama for what he said was “moving the goal posts” on the sequester by requesting that revenue be part of a deal to avert it.

This coming from D.C.’s ultimate Democrat insider reporter.  I was surprised for a long time that few Republicans used last year’s Woodward penned book “The Price of Politics” against Obama in the press.  The book was positively damning in terms of Obama’s complete lack of desire to work with Republicans.  It neutralized Obama’s argument for the last five years that Republicans refuse to work with him.  But the Republicans are morons and that’s one of the big reasons why I’m an independent.

Some inside info..

Taking a break from the sun to put this up as it is not a link but rather some D.C. inside info from a friend related to the impending sequester.

A few days ago a group of Senate Democrats put together a package as a compromise with Republicans.  This was a good compromise package in terms of neither party being terribly happy with it but Republican leadership was ready to agree to it.gt

Unfortunately, the White House caught wind of the compromise.  It was immediately squashed.

Apparently Obama still feels that his histrionics on this issue are working.  He very well may be right considering that low information voters comprise the majority.

My vacation is happening at a rather inconvenient time because the sequestration issue is one that deserves a lot of ink on this blog.  I don’t know how to put this any other way:  The President has repeatedly lied to the American people on this issue.  That’s nothing new of course but the ease and frequency of which he does so is alarming to put it mildly.

Telling people that they’re going to lose fireman, teachers and policeman due to the sequester is an utter lie.  Those jobs are paid for (90-95%) with local taxes.  But the big lie is pretending that these cuts are even a tiny dent in federal spending.  The federal government’s spending is now at 4 TRILLION dollars.  The sequestration cuts are 120 billion a year and only 22 Billion for this year.  All we’re doing is returning to budget levels from a couple of years ago.  Cut away I say.  If it were up to me, it would be 5% across the board for the next five years.

As usual, history is our best guide.  When we had large defense cuts in the early 90’s, unemployment spiked to 7% (not bad compared to today’s 15%) but then after the economy settled, unemployment dropped to 4% within 2 years and the GDP exploded to 10 trillion dollars.   Less money in the government means more money in the private sector where people can actually use that money for something productive.

This isn’t rocket science.  It’s just history.  We know what works but we have half the people in this country worshiping government as their new god and the Republican party consists of people who are either clueless or bought and paid for.

Cut away, I say.  No matter how cynical I’ve sounded about the people of this country, I still have tremendous faith in them.  If the people have the money, they’ll do great things.  But if the government continues to grow, the people will never get a chance.

It’s oh so quiet.

I’ve been on vacation and will continue to be so for the next week.  The long vac is due to not taking any time off since last June.  I love my job but I reached a point of fairly serious burnout.

I initially had intended to keep posting while on vacation but I’m finding it extremely difficult to get into “vacation mode”.  The stresses and worries aren’t melting away they way they should.

Consequently, I’ve chosen to avoid most of the news.  I did start going through my news reading routine a few days ago but found it so incredibly depressing, it stuck with me the rest of the day.  The abject stupidity that’s being put on display is difficult for me to wrap my head around.

I’m sure I’ll regret saying this but what’s one more bridge burned:  Folks, if you’re supporting the charade that’s going on in Washington right now, and by that I mean if you voted for and continue to support this President (emphasis on the second),  then I’ll tell you, I won’t forget it and neither will a lot of people.  I realize that sounds self-important but there may be a point in the not so far off future that things may be bad enough that you’re reaching out to me or others for help.

I can’t speak for anyone but myself but if the worst thing that happens to that extended hand is a slap, I’ll be surprised.  Get past your absurd  political party cheer leading and open your fucking eyes.  Bad things are coming and those with clear minds are keeping score.

The Democrats’ War to Win Women Voters – National Journal

Not sure if you noticed, but the Democrats use the word “War” a lot when it comes to their constituency groups.  Divide. Divide. Divide.  Convince every constituency that anyone without a “D” next to their name is out to eradicate their very way of life.  Convince them that those that disagree with them aren’t real Americans.  And we don’t care what happens to people who aren’t real Americans, right?

There’s an endgame to this that I hope we never see.

WAL-MART Internal Email: ‘February sales total disaster … worst start to month in my 7 years’… – Bloomberg

While I realize most Democrats despise Walmart, I’ve got news for you:  Walmart is the way lower income people make ends meet.  Walmart is how they manage to feed their kids and still pay their bills each month.

This is what happens when Keynesians run the country and the Republican resistance (with rare exception) is either incompetent (Boehner) or bought and paid for by globalists (McCain).
