Al Sharpton Gets Meeting With President – The Weekly Standard

Al Sharpton met with the president of the United States yesterday. “President Obama met with African American civil rights and faith leaders to provide an update on the Administration’s priorities as described in the State of the Union. The meeting was also an opportunity to have a dialogue with the leaders about the issues facing their communities, including criminal justice, education, health care and economic development,” the White House announced in a read-out of the meeting.

What if I told you that “The King of Black People” meets with the President almost every week?    The difference is that those meetings aren’t part of the White House daily record.

First they came for the Jews – Ben Shapiro

Most of Shapiro’s talk here is a rehash of events we’ve already seen, specifically Barack Obama’s utter reluctance to address what’s happening, even in words.  But Shapiro makes an excellent point that I haven’t heard made elsewhere:

“First they came for the Jews and Obama didn’t speak up.  Because he’s not a Jew.  Then they came for the Christians and Obama didn’t speak up.  Because he’s not a Christian.  Now they come for Western Civilization and Obama will not speak up, because he is not an advocate of Western Civilization.

In the same vein, Andrew Klavan has an excellent (and as usual, bitingly sarcastic) video on Christians and Jews losing their heads while our “President” and his followers  stick theirs in the sand.

IRS watchdog reveals Lois Lerner missing emails now subject of criminal probe – Washington Times

Will Lois Lerner actually go to jail?  Ha.  It’s all theatre, my friends.  But one can hope, I suppose.  Remember when Mr. Sasshole told you that Lois’ hard drive is backed up?

The IRS’s inspector general confirmed Thursday it is conducting a criminal investigation into how Lois G. Lerner’s emails disappeared, saying it took only two weeks for investigators to find hundreds of tapes the agency’s chief had told Congress were irretrievably destroyed.

Investigators have already scoured 744 backup tapes and gleaned 32,774 unique emails, but just two weeks ago they found an additional 424 tapes that could contain even more Lerner emails, Deputy Inspector General Timothy P. Camus told the House Oversight Committee in a rare late-night hearing meant to look into the status of the investigation.

“There is potential criminal activity,” Mr. Camus said.

Lois was just a good soldier, doing what she was told by her boss in the White House.  Even though anyone who is not hopelessly partisan or brain damaged (is there a difference? hmm..) can tell from the chronology that Lois was helping to steal an election as directed by the White House, too much time has passed for that conclusive link to ever be found.  While excuses were being used to stall for time, those emails were being found and scrubbed.

But hey, if you pretend you’re just watching a movie with an unhappy ending, it’s not so bad.

The Faux Immigration Battle

Our President gets up and does what he does best: Awkward grammar and childish, narcissistic gloating.

Obama Dares GOP: Go Ahead, ‘Have a Vote on Whether What I’m Doing Is Legal…I Will Veto’ – MRC

Pres. Obama is daring Republicans to vote on whether or not his executive actions are legal.

Discussing opposition to his executive amnesty orders at an immigration town hall Wednesday, Obama said he would veto the vote because his actions are “the right thing to do”:

“So in the short term, if Mr. McConnell, the leader of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, want to have a vote on whether what I’m doing is legal or not, they can have that vote.  I will veto that vote, because I’m absolutely confident that what we’re doing is the right thing to do.”

But the best part:

Obama argued that he has merely “expanded my authorities” – not broken any laws:

“What we’ve done is we’ve expanded my authorities under executive action and prosecutorial discretion as far as we can legally under the existing statute, the existing law.  And so now the question is, how can we get a law passed.”

This is Barry speaking directly to his base.  They love the insults and utter lack of decorum, but what they really like are rationalizations to ignore the law and the Constitution.  The important bit of programming is right here:

“So in the short term, if Mr. McConnell, the leader of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, want to have a vote on whether what I’m doing is legal or not, they can have that vote.  I will veto that vote, because I’m absolutely confident that what we’re doing is the right thing to do.”

He begins by mocking a normal, legislative process.  The message to the base “These old men are just frittering away precious time with their silly congressional responsibilities.  I’M THE ONE trying to do REAL work.”

But the most important part is the last sentence fragment “I’m absolutely confident that what we’re doing is the right thing to do.”  The message to the base is simple:  If you’re in the “right”, nothing else matters.  It’s okay for me to consolidate even more power, it’s alright for me to ignore the Constitution and Congress because we’re the good guys.

This is how you become a despot without firing a shot.  You own the Media and you program the easily led to support actions that go against their own best interests.

Obama to ban bullets by executive action, threatens top-selling AR-15 rifle – Washington Examiner

It’s starting.

As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.

The National Rifle Association, which is working with Goodlatte to gather co-signers, told Secrets that 30 House members have already co-signed the letter and Goodlatte and the NRA are hoping to get a total of 100 fast.

“The Obama administration was unable to ban America’s most popular sporting rifle through the legislative process, so now it’s trying to ban commonly owned and used ammunition through regulation,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA-ILA, the group’s policy and lobby shop. “The NRA and our tens of millions of supporters across the country will fight to stop President Obama’s latest attack on our Second Amendment freedoms.”

It’s called “incrementalism”.  Keep taking a little bit by bit.  I cannot find a single instance of an M855 round being used in the murder of any civilian, even in self-defense.   Why this is suddenly a problem, I don’t know.  Virtually all rifle rounds will penetrate the soft body armor worn by police.   Perhaps more importantly, the M855 does not fit the definition of “armor piercing” as defined by the ATF.  Therein lies the scary element to all this:  This is just a subjective ban of a popular type of ammunition by the ATF.  Using the same criteria they’re using for this ban, the ATF could easily say tomorrow “We’re banning all rifle ammunition because almost all of it can penetrate a police officer’s vest.

Please don’t make the mistake that this is the ATF going out on a limb.  The ATF takes its marching orders from the White House, just like they did during every anti-gun Administration of the last 40 years.

No idea if this is simple petulant vindictiveness (which is entirely possible with this President) or a key to establishing the impending police state.

I know I’m beating a dead horse, but if you believe in the 2nd Amendment, it wouldn’t hurt to let the ATF know how you feel about this.

Stop Net Neutrality

Folks… this is an important one.  Don’t let this happen without letting the FCC know how you feel.

FCC Chair Refuses to Testify before Congress ahead of Net Neutrality Vote – The Corner

This is the kind of arrogance that spreads when you have a corrupt, lawless administration in the White House.  Refuses to testify to Congress?  Then sit in jail until you’re ready.  Tell him how you feel:

Well lookie here, a group of left wing idiots are actually concerned about Net Neutrality.  Good to know at least a small minority of progressives are at least half awake now:  Dear FCC: Rethink The Vague “General Conduct” Rule – EFF

Spoiler alert: yes.

This ISN’T a partisan issue.  This rule can (and will) allow the Federal Government to regulate the political content on the internet.  Democrats, just because YOUR fucking guy is in the White House right now, how do you know that a future Republican President won’t abuse this new rule?  Speak the fuck up.  You can also call the FCC at: 1-888-225-5322

President Obama has gotten Congressional Democrats to do what he wants. No one else is following suit. – National Journal

As a presidential candidate, President Obama expressed his desire to “change the trajectory of America” along the lines of Ronald Reagan, rebuking the legacy of Bill Clinton’s pragmatic presidency in the process. Now that his own presidency is winding down, Obama is finding that his main legacy is only half-achieved. He has indeed transformed the Democratic party to his liking, but failed to get anyone else to follow suit.

At the same time, there’s no doubt he’s successfully pushed Democrats to adopt his favored policies with minimal dissent—and that will have lasting consequences for many elections to come. Despite uneven personal relations with his own party in Congress, there have been very few instances when his party’s members have split from his governing course, even on issues where the politics would dictate they should.

That’s the consequence of being the most polarizing president in history, according to Gallup’s latest polling analysis. Obama maintains strong support from his core supporters, even as Republicans have entirely abandoned him and independents have followed suit. Gallup found 79 percent of Democrats still backing him, even with a 42.6 percent average approval rating in his sixth year in office. That unusually large disconnect has emboldened the president to push forward on controversial issues that few other Democrats would touch, thanks to unyielding support from his base.

The recent debate over the Iranian nuclear threat and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled speech to Congress on this issue is a perfect example of this new Democratic dynamic. The Democratic party has long been strongly supportive of Israel, but thanks to Obama’s pursuit of a deal with Iran, relations between this White House and Israel have hit historic lows. Democrats are now presented with an uncomfortable choice: Back Obama and his aggressive diplomatic push with Iran, or support the Israeli prime minister’s speech to Congress raising questions about Iran’s intentions.

In the past, the invitation of the Israeli prime minister to speak wouldn’t have been nearly as controversial—even so close to an election. Obama knows that. And he’s using this episode and his leverage as president to get his rank-and-file members to be less instinctively supportive of the Jewish state. It’s having some effect: Most African-American Democrats and many progressive members of the party—Obama’s base—have said they’re not attending. Even several Jewish Democratic members haven’t committed to doing so.

As I’ve said many times before, there is nothing this President can do that his idiot constituents won’t support.  That kind of cover makes for a very dangerous monarch.

America’s Most Influential Thinker on Race: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s insights are reshaping law and policy for the better. – Juan Williams

Justice Thomas, who has been on the court nearly a quarter-century, remains a polarizing figure—loved by conservatives and loathed by liberals. But his “free”-thinking legal opinions are opening new roads for the American political debate on racial justice.

His opinions are rooted in the premise that the 14th Amendment—guaranteeing equal rights for all—cannot mean different things for different people. As he wrote in Fisher v. University of Texas (2013), he is opposed to “perpetual racial tinkering” by judges to fix racial imbalance and inequality at schools and the workplace. Yet he never contends racism has gone away. The fact that a 2001 article in Time magazine about him was headlined “Uncle Tom Justice” reminds us that racism stubbornly persists.

His only current rival in the race debate is President Obama. At moments of racial controversy the nation’s first black president has used his national pulpit to give voice to black fear that racial stereotyping led to tragedy. But that is as far as he is willing to go. His attorney general, Eric Holder , has gone further by calling Americans “cowards” when it comes to discussing race. And some critics have chastised him even for that.

Justice Thomas, meanwhile, is reshaping the law and government policy on race by virtue of the power of his opinions from the bench. Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American on the Supreme Court, stood up as a voice insisting on rights for black people. Justice Thomas, the second black man on the court, takes a different tack. He stands up for individual rights as a sure blanket of legal protection for everyone, including minorities.

I can only assume that the Liberal hatred of Thomas is purely due to racism.

The Media: When You Attack Obama, You’re Attacking Them. – Jay Caruso

“In Obama they see themselves. What he wants to carry out is what they want and they are going to do what they can to make sure these last two years he gets to do just that, the consequences be damned. So whether it is going after Rudy Giuliani or going after a Congressional staffer for a slight against the Obama daughters, the media is going to be out to defend Obama at all costs. That’s what the palace guard does.”
